As part of the university’s commitment to supporting the global student community, the number of international student scholarships has been increased.

The Melbourne International Undergraduate Scholarship is offered to all international students undertaking an undergraduate degree. All applicants will be automatically assessed for the scholarship, which provides either a:

  • AUD 10,000 tuition fee remission in the first year of an undergraduate degree
  • 50 percent fee remission for the three-year duration of an undergraduate degree, or
  • 100 percent fee remission for the three-year duration of an undergraduate degree

Entry requirements

The following are the entry requirements for international students to the University of Melbourne:

Undergraduate degrees

Students applying to undergraduate programs at the (your Uni name) need to have:

  • completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or an equivalent overseas qualification
  • met any additional requirements, such as prerequisite tests or subjects, portfolios and auditions for application to their preferred undergraduate degree
Graduate degrees

A graduate coursework degree typically comes after undergraduate studies. The process includes selecting a graduate coursework degree, meeting entry requirements, understanding tuition fees, applying with Melbourne, receiving an offer, and enrolling as a student.

Those wishing to do a doctorate need to have undertaken study at the honours and master’s level in their chosen discipline. Other qualifications and work experience are also considered.

English requirements

International students from a non-English speaking background need to meet the (your Uni name)  English language requirements to be considered for entry.

Students can meet the English language requirement in a number of ways, depending on their circumstances. Tests that are deemed valid to determine English proficiency include the IELTS, TOEFL, Pearson Test of English (academic tests) or Cambridge English, Advanced/Certificate in Advanced English (CAE).

Student Engagements

There is a lot to explore and discover when first arriving on campus. Orientation, sometimes known as 'O Week', will not only help you find your away around the University, but also help you meet new people and learn more about life in Sydney or Perth. Orientation Week starts one week before classes commence and attendance is compulsory for all international students, including Study Abroad and Exchange students.

You're never far from a café, and the Cappuccino Strip and Fishing Boat Harbour are home to numerous restaurants. The brand new Walyalup Koort development hosts an array of eateries and entertainment options including bowling and mini golf. Then there is Bathers Beach, only a few steps from campus, which makes the perfect getaway on those long summer days.
